| Albania, 2003 | | Living Standards Measurement Survey, Wave 2 Panel | | Region: Europe and Central Asia | | Survey Type: Living Standards Measurement Survey
(LSMS) |
| Content | | Summary | Albania 2003 LSMS is the second wave of the Albania Panel Surveys (APS) 2002-2004. This and the subsequent wave only cover about a half of the households interviewed in 2002. Individuals who had left the original households were followed along with their new households, but only if they had remained in Albania. The Control Form gathers data on work migrants who returned to their households of origin after April 2002, and all migrants who left after that date, either to go abroad or to another Albanian district. The migration module of Wave 2 includes a rich section on national and international migration history, as well as a section on children living away and one on extended family. While the main content of the key output for the APS 2002-2004 is an analysis of the labour market, the report also discusses migration as an important means to mitigate risks of unemployment and low income, as well as its risk of inducing ‘brain drain’. | |
